05/01/08 - Early Morning Car Chase Ends at Transit and Bullis

East Seneca was alerted to a MVC at about 0140 hrs at Transit Road and Bullis Roads.  As the two roads intersect at two place and one side of Transit Road is in Elma, Springbrook and Blossom Fire Departments were alerted as well.

East Seneca units arrived first to find a single car off the road on the Elma side, with approximately 25 police cars surrounding it.  The crash, into a railroad embankment, was the result of a 9-mile police chase that reached speeds over 100 miles per hour.

According to police at the scene, the driver cut her throat with a razor blade as they approached the vehicle following the crash.  East Seneca firefighters provided first aid to the driver and assisted RMA in transferring her to their ambulance.

04/28/08 - East Seneca, Vigilant and Union Handle Garage Fire with a Few Hundred Bowling Pins

As East Seneca finished up Monday night training and began to settle into the evenings poker game we were alerted with Vigilant and Union to  a working detached garage fire on Center Road.  Arriving crews found a fully involved garage with no extension to the nearby house.  The fire was quickly extinguished with 3 1 3/4" lines.

A major fuel source in the fire was an estimated 400 - 500 bowling pins.  The homeowner states that they used them for "firewood" when camping.  Apparently, being nice hard wood, they burn for several hours.

04/01/08 - East Seneca, Vigilant, Union and Seneca Hose Fire Companies Make Quick Work of Apartment Fire

At about 11:04 am Vigilant, East Seneca and Union were alerted to smoke in the apartment at 1350 Union Road.  Vigilant 9-2 arrived on location and found heavy smoke conditions in a basement apartment.  He assumed Union Road Command and requested additional equipment from Seneca Hose.  While Vigilant 9-1 and East Seneca 9-1 evacuated several residents from other apartments in the building, the crew from East Seneca Engine 1 made entry into the fire apartment and extinguished the fire.
