04/28/08 - East Seneca,
Vigilant and Union Handle Garage Fire with a Few Hundred
Bowling Pins
As East Seneca finished up Monday
night training and began to settle into the evenings poker
game we were alerted with Vigilant and Union to a
working detached garage fire on Center Road. Arriving
crews found a fully involved garage with no extension to the
nearby house. The fire was quickly extinguished with 3
1 3/4" lines.
A major fuel source in the fire was
an estimated 400 - 500 bowling pins. The homeowner
states that they used them for "firewood" when
camping. Apparently, being nice hard wood, they burn
for several hours.
